Welcome to the Weinhold lab!
We are active in Bioorganic Chemistry/Chemical Biology and focus on development of new molecular tools for genomics and proteomics. These tools are often based on synthetic S-adenosyl-L-methionine analogues and methyltransferases, a class of enzymes that methylates various substrates like DNA, RNA, proteins and small molecules and serves a broad variety of biological functions ranging from metabolism to epigenetics. Our work involves organic synthesis, biochemical methods and molecular biology techniques.
